Scott M. Koser, CFA
Director of Research
Scott Koser's love for economics and the intellectual challenges of weighing the opportunities and risks of investing are what led him to a career in investment management and to starting Cornerstone Investment Management and Consulting with partner, Mark Davidson, CFA, in 2003. As the director of research, Koser utilizes his 14 years of investment management experience to manage research efforts in macroeconomics, global asset allocation, securities analysis, portfolio management as well as researching and deploying new tools and information systems.
Experience
Before launching Cornerstone as a startup boutique investment management firm in 2003 with Davidson, Koser served for 10 years with an institutional money manager where Koser served as Vice President and Portfolio Manager.
Education
A second-generation investment portfolio manager, Koser earned his bachelor's degree in finance from Auburn University in 1992. While at Auburn, he served as a co-op student with the Norfolk Southern Company (NYSE: NSC) and was co-founder of the Auburn Chapter of the Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs. Koser earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1997.
Involvement
Koser is also a member of the Atlanta Society of Financial Analyst's (ASFA). As an active member of the eastern shore chamber of commerce, Koser currently serves as the chair the of research/technology park task force. Koser's volunteer commitments include serving as the 2007-2008 treasurer of the Daphne/Spanish Fort Rotary Club. He is also the Finance Committee Chairman and an Endowment Fund Trustee for the Fairhope United Methodist Church. Koser highly values mission work and has served as leader of several international missions' teams to Villahermosa, Mexico.
Personal
When not in the office and community, Koser enjoys time with his family. He is the husband of the former Robyn Folsom of Mobile and father of Samuel, Mitchell, and Amelia Grace. He is also the owner of two Labrador Retrievers, Professor Honey Graham and Annabelle, and a cat, Pickle. With any free time left in the day, Koser takes pleasure in golfing and salt water, fresh water and fly-fishing.
